Beckman Foundation OC Community Grant Enables Expansion Of “Girls in STEM” Program

Los Alamitos Youth Center’s Orange County Community Support Grant from the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation was recently renewed at $15,000 and will be used to extend the current “Girls in STEM” program to a nine-week summer session. A total of 450 students will be accommodated because of this expansion, along with the introduction of “Kids in STEM” science workshops, with the goal of ensuring all children served have access to enriching STEM experiences that inspire their minds, equip them with skills, and help build their confidence to pursue STEM education and careers.
